Daisy, Fleabane

Fleabane, or Aspen, Daisy is common in mountain meadows and aspen forests throughout the western mountains. A mid-season blooming perennial, it does best in full to partial sun, tolerates dry to moist soils,  but prefers well-drained soil that is not too rich. It grows from Alberta and British Columbia, south to Montana, New Mexico, and Arizona in wooded areas, at 5800-11,000 feet elevation. A showy, vigorous plant with violet flowers that attracts butterflies, it will form colonies that should be divided when they begin to overlap. Does well in the home garden, rock garden, and pollinator garden. It is also used in reclamation.
