Gaura
(Gaura lindheimeri)
Gaura is a summer to fall blooming perennial native to east Texas, Louisiana and adjacent Mexico. Plants grow best in full sun with dry conditions and well-drained sandy to clay soils. Good drainage is a must, but can tolerate drought and extreme heat and humidity. It does not transplant well due to its long taproot. Flowers are attractive to honey bees. Recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit for reliable performance in the garden.
