Greenthread
(Thelesperma filifolium)
Greenthread gets its name from the narrow, linear segments of its leaves. This native annual can be found throughout the High Plains, from South Dakota to Texas. It is typically found in large colonies in dry, sandy soils. Flowers are bright yellow and appear in summer. It makes a good colonizer and is excellent for reclamation and roadside mixtures. The flowers also attract many native pollinators. Drought tolerant.
