Milkweed, Broadleaf
(Asclepias latifolia)
Broadleaf Milkweed is native to the southern Great Plains and the southwestern U.S. It can be found along roadsides and railroad rights-of-way as well as in disturbed, open areas. Plants grow to 30 inches tall and have huge, oval leaves and creamy white flowers that can be hidden in the foliage. Broadleaf Milkweed is a host plant for monarchs, and the nectar is utilized by honey bees, bumble bees and other native bees. Plants are recommended for xeriscaping and dryland plantings.
