Sunflower ‘Tall Sungold’
(Helianthus annuus)
‘Tall Sungold’ sunflower, also known as Tall Teddy Bear, produces fluffy, golden-yellow, 8-10 inch blooms on stately 5-6 foot tall plants perfect for beds and borders. The unique flowers mature to feathery pillows that are crowd-pleasers for adults and children alike. The flowers have no outer petals and are composed entirely of shaggy disk flowers giving it a very distinctive appearance. This sunflower is multi-branching with strong stems making charming cut flowers. Like other sunflowers it is reliably easy to grow and provides pollen and nectar for a large variety of pollinators while in bloom. Once flowers are spent, the seedheads can be left for seed-eating birds such as goldfinches, cardinals, chickadees and jays.
