Switchgrass ‘Forestburg’

Switchgrass ‘Forestburg’ is a rhizomatous, warm-season bunchgrass that is native throughout most of the U.S. It is a major component of the Tallgrass Prairie ecosystem. Forestburg originates from Sanborn County near Forestburg, South Dakota. It is early maturing and has shorter stature and finer leaves than southern varieties. It works best planted in well-drained to moderately moist soils with a precipitation of 15-30 inches annually. Use for pasture mixes, range seeding, erosion control and biofuel production. It also provides good nesting habitat, cover and food for many different types of wildlife.
